Are You Ready to Live on Your Own?
Maybe you’re one of the members of the working sector who recently bought a unit at one of the McKinley Hill condominiums and returns home to your hometown during weekends. Every striving employee knows this type of situation and I personally had a taste of it. Well, I did not have a privilege living in a luxurious high-rise building and just end up renting a simple cozy apartment. Regardless, it is the same scenario because, you know, there is no place like home where you could be your normal quirky self.
Other people question this kind of move, yet for some they use this strategy for the sake of survival. This is vital in order to survive against the grueling and frustrating traffic. You’d rather sacrifice being away from your family than turning sour and grumpy for the rest of the day because of the tough ride(s) you’ve been through. Do you want a daily dose of MRT and EDSA? Hope not. Moving out is all right even if you will make a huge adjustment on settling yourself in a strange place (for first timers). Renting an apartment near your work – either a walk or a ride apart – and wishing that your roommates were agreeable persons.
Although, it is only natural to be apprehensive and unsure at first, nevertheless, the experience and learning you will gain along the way are truly priceless and memorable. First, you will be a master budgeter and having this tendency of saving the last centavo in your wallet. This is a necessary skill or you will end up in a knee-deep debt. You must list all your expenses and stick to it no matter what happens.
You will be a living example of Aristotle’s “Man is a social animal” quote. You will be a socially adept human being because you have to interact with your roommates, proprietor, and the ad-hoc community you’re destined to live in. You will develop a heightened sense of awareness while you expand your network. All the while, you will be more vigilant and aware of your surroundings. We can’t deny the fact that our time is not safe anymore even for a leisure walk especially at night.
If you handle this like a sensible and mature adult, you will turn into an independent and responsible person aware of your actions and decisions you will be making as you live on your own. It is a little dreadful at times but it deserves a pat in the back once you managed to survive an entire day bringing yourself home in one piece.
